    Academy's Instructional Designer will work with the curriculum team and the Director of Education to create engaging learning activities and compelling course content.  He/she will employ instructional design principles and models to ensure that curriculum is built and updated in accordance with well-defined learning objectives and that assessments accurately test the relevant knowledge, skills, and abilities.



    • Designs, creates, maintains and updates a variety of learning solutions (e-learning, instructor-led training, virtual training sessions, and self-study programs).
    • Develops learning objectives, course blueprints, knowledge, skill and ability (KSA) definitions, and formative/summative assessment models based on intended curriculum outcomes or specific customer requirements.
    • Collaborates with team members, internal subject matter experts (SMEs) and stakeholders to develop online courses.
    • Works closely with customers, partners and SMEs to translate technical outcomes, skills and abilities into curriculum and assessment specifications.
    • Conducts research to ensure curriculum design reflects current trends and techniques and incorporates best practices for adult learning.
    • Creates supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games, etc.)
    • Demonstrates thought leadership and the ability to drive innovation
    • Evaluates projects to assess effectiveness and impact 
    • Leads pilots and train-the-trainer sessions and incorporates feedback



    • 3-5 years’ experience in instructional design and with instructional technology
    • Proven e-learning design and development experience including emerging learning solutions such as game-based learning, simulations and immersive scenarios requiring multiple branching elements



    • BS or MA degree in instructional design, educational technology or similar


    Technical Requirements:

    • Excellent knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models
    • Lesson and curriculum planning skills
    • Basic web development knowledge
    • Solid knowledge of course development software and at least one Learning Management System
    • Visual and layout design skills (InDesign, Photoshop, etc.) and ability to storyboard
    • Intermediate experience with Articulate Storyline or comparable e-learning design tool
    • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, and audio/video scripts


    Travel Required: Occasional Travel May Be Required
